Dave Mitchell is a prolific voice actor who has as many as 230+ acting credits, with notable performances like Vicar Maximillian DeSoto (Outer Worlds), Mr. Gutsy (Fallout Series), and Steve Delhomme (Catherine: Full Body). He graciously sat down for a zoom interview on January 15, 2021, where we discussed specifically his experience voicing one of the main characters of Dead Money, Dog/God. We also discussed highlights of his career within the games industry and outside of it.
NF: How are ya doing?
Brief Introductions. He discusses how he is known around the industry for wearing t-shirts associated with the projects he's working on when he goes to recording sessions.
NF: What was your experience with the Fallout series before working on Fallout: New Vegas, was it a game series you had a pre-established relationship with?
NF: You had at that point worked on numerous projects from a multitude of game studios and publishers, I was wondering if you could describe your experience working with Obsidian?
Also was your work playing as Festus and God/Dog your first experience working with Obsidian (the developer of Fallout: New Vegas)?
NF: What was the process like for getting your roles on Fallout: New Vegas/Dead Money, was there an audition process?
NF: Do you remember the rough timeline of when certain milestones of the project took place such as the initial casting, the recording sessions, any additional recording that took place?
NF: Did you receive a full script when you auditioned?
NF: Any specific influences you took from when creating the performance of God/Dog?
NF: How much did you know about the dual personalities of the Dog/God Character when you first auditioned for this role?
NF: Was it difficult finding the voice of Dog/God?
